Project Summary: I worked in Creative Services’ Authoring unit at State Farm and at the Hispanic Families Workgroup (HFWG) in the community. In Creative Services I worked on converting an exam scheduler database for State Farm associates from ASP to ASP.NET. I also worked on an interactive intranet map-based database for Enterprise Services to organize information about various State Farm offices nationwide. Finally, I converted a Fire Service Scheduler from ASP to ASP.NET. At the HFWG I created a website from scratch. This process began by analyzing what HFWG members wanted from their website and finding a hosting provider. I then mocked up the layout and organizational structure of the website. I spent most of the internship coding the website using PHP, CSS, and Javascript. At the end of my time in the program, I worked with a few members of the HFWG to mke sure they were satisfied with the website and to perform a great deal of testing. Finally, as part of the Community Partnership Program itself, I volunteered to co-host the weekly Action Research Hour on WESN 88.1 and I participated in the weekly Wednesday Workshops.
