Project Summary: For the summer of 2011 Community Partnership Program Internship, I interned in the Catastrophe Services department at State Farm. In addition to helping out with administrative tasks, my main project was writing a report on the relationship between climate change and severe weather-related natural disasters and what impact this may have on the insurance industry. My research was compiled from a variety of sources both external and internal to State Farm. For the community partner component of my internship, I was as Marcfirst. I helped develop and finalize the curriculum for their new summer School to Work program, a siz week class for high school-aged students with disabilities designed to help them acquire the skills necessary to successfully join the workforce.
