In October 2025 the John Updike and Philip Roth societies jointly sponsored a conference in New York City. The opening session, “Roth-Updike Intersections: A Roundtable Discussion,” featured Sylvie Mathé, D. Quentin Miller, James Schiff, and Matthew Shipe.
