Dylan Overstreet ’15 is among men’s basketball nominees for the 2015 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and Allstate Insurance Company Good Works Teams. Also reported by the Paxton Record.
As part of his internship at the Bloomington-Normal Boys & Girls Club, Overstreer developed “Hardwork 2 Hoops” program which partnered with IWU basketball to offer two free camp scholarships for boys who demonstrated good behavior at the club and good grades in the classroom. He also helped develop a “Wish Wall” at the club that allows members to write down their wish for their club, such as something they want to do, a field trip or a program to be offered. A number of those wishes were granted and multiple field trips were funded.
Illinois Wesleyan University trio: Alan Russian ’15, Breck Seitz ’15, and Rachel Dolan ’17, president of the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization at IWU, plans to launch a service to help fellow students buy and sell books from each other. All three represented IWU at a Startup Weekend at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles in late November 2014.
