Career Developments for Bethany (04) and Brian Wasik (04)
Bethany and Brian Wasik are making major strides in their careers.
Bethany (’04) completed a postdoctoral fellowship in May and accepted an acquisitions assistant position at Cornell University Press in pursuit of an editorial career in academic scholarship.
Meanwhile, Brian (also ’04) is continuing his work as a postdoctoral associate researching influenza virus and host evolution in the Parrish lab, in affiliation with the Baker Institute for Animal Health at Cornell University.
Congratulations to them both!

Matthew Thompson ’04
Matthew Thompson ’04 was featured in a recent article by the Salina Journal. The article chronicles his path to his current role as registrar of the Eisenhower Presidential Library, Museum and Boyhood Home in Abilene.

Joe Binder ’04 Recognized as Top Young Scientist
Joe Binder, a class of 2004 double major in physics and chemistry, was recognized as one of the top young scientists at BP with the Tallow Chandlers Award.
After earning a Ph.D. at University of Wisconsin-Madison, Binder went on to work for BP on its $500 million Energy Biosciences Institute collaboration with University of California, Berkeley and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research on biofuels and bio-based materials has taken him to research labs as well as farm fields around the country.

Andrew Chereck ’04 Participates in Space Exploration
Andrew Chereck ’04, a senior systems engineer at Lockheed Martin, was involved in the development of the Orion spacecraft. The spacecraft completed its first test flight on Dec. 5.

Ann Harding Announces Retirement
After decades of service to Illinois Wesleyan, Ann Harding retired this month as director of Alumni Relations. Joining IWU’s Career Center in 1998, her dedication and gift of networking helped to develop her career and improve the alumni relationships university-wide. Her dedication will be missed, though she promises to stay connected, just as she has helped so many others do over the past sixteen years. Congratulations on your retirement, Ann!

Bethany (Kesselring) Wasik ’04
Bethany (Kesselring) Wasik accepted a postdoctoral research associate position at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY in the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Department. She and her husband, Brian (’04) and their son, Cameron, are greatly enjoying the “gorges” scenery! Previously, Bethany and Brian both completed postdoctoral appointments at Yale University in the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology department.
