Karla and her 9-year-old son Kai recently went to Washington to participate in Museums Advocacy Day to lobby for museum funding. They were invited by the American Alliance of Museums due to their participation in hearings for keeping the Illinois State Museum open.

Having a great time in the United Kingdom on a 5 month sabbatical from the United States Air Force Research Laboratory. Based in South Kensington/Imperial College London, but getting to Oxford, Cambridge, Manchester, Bristol, Bath and other UK universities to learn to make better multifunctional/bio-inspired structural composites for the Air Force. IWU Physics and Chemistry Departments prepared me well!
