Jim Ridenour ’54 – Homecoming 2014

It was a beautiful weekend in Bloomington—the weather and the campus!  The 150th Gala Anniversary for the Music School was spectacular, and I am hoping that IWU puts some of it up on the website, or makes a CD of it available for those who did not make it.  Everything was very well laid out for us, including golf carts to take us around the campus.  Kyle Pfortmiller, a frequent performer at the Metropolitan Opera sang at the Gala and gave a wonderful Class lecture in Ames Library.  He was one of three alumni receiving awards at the luncheon.

We had about 100 for the Golden Titan dinner on Saturday night.  Mickey Drexler came as a special guest, but Lee Short fell on Thursday night and was not able to make it.  Roger Coventry led the group in songs for our era and Provost Green had some good words about the great advances being made by IWU.  We certainly can be proud of our alma mater.

Sorry that several of you were not able to make it back—extra sorry to miss the Gettys at the last minute.  I am now on the Alumni Board, probably the oldest board member ever!  I will be going back for the Spring board meeting on April 10th, so we could try another reunion gathering then if you would like to do so!

Peace,

Jim Ridenour
