Traditionally, the John Updike Society announces the site of their next biennial conference at the closing membership meeting of the current conference, and that “reveal” is done with a PowerPoint presentation. And here it is:
Natia writes, “Kutaisi Akaki Tsereteli State University is one of the major universities in Georgia. The year 2023, the conference year, will mark the 90th anniversary of our university. It as an incredibly important year for us and its significance has further grown due to the privilege of being chosen as the 7th Biennial John Updike Society Conference venue. We will do our best to make this event truly unforgettable. Kutaisi itself is one of the oldest European cities particularly famous for its hospitality and humor. The region overall (as well as the whole of Georgia), with its diverse landscape and culture, is a great destination for anybody. It may sound like a cliché, but my homeland is a small country with a truly huge heart.”
Any word on specific dates?
any update on the dates?
Dates haven’t been set yet, but we are looking at the first week of October for the conference, which is now set in Tucson.
