Amelia Smith ’15

The Fulbright Seminar in American studies is a three-day long mountain retreat for more than 70 US and Austrian students, scholars, and teaching assistants. The event, which is the highlight of the Austrian Fulbright calendar, is held in Strobl am Wolfgangsee in Austria.
Amelia Smith ’15 attended as a USTA Regional Adviser. The second-year UTSAs are a point of contact for incoming teaching assistants in their region.
As is stated on Fulbright’s page, “the Fulbright Seminar in American Studies is a wonderful opportunity for US and Austrian Fulbrighters in various disciplines and programs to meet, network, and promote mutual understanding.”

Anne Kelly ’15

Anne Kelly’s ’15 senior seminar essay was chosen for inclusion in this year’s issue of Constructing the Past, IWU’s undergraduate history journal. Her essay is titled: Bringing Out the Big Guns: How the Remilitarization of Japan Between 1947-1955 Impacted Chinese Perception of Sino-American Relations.

Diana Bonilla ’15

Diana Bonilla ’15 is doing great things as a teaching fellow at Back of the Yards College Prep High School. “As a first-generation Mexican-American, Bonilla hopes to serve as a role model to her students. Bonilla grew up in Northlake and earned her undergraduate degree at Illinois Wesleyan University, where she did not have science teachers of color.”
