Chris ’05 and Rachel Schultz welcomed Charles Matthew Schultz on August 24, 2017.
Congratulations on your new addition!
As IWU celebrates Titans Around the World at Homecoming this weekend, we will also honor our alumni who served worldwide as veterans and first-responders, including Captain Ryan A. Beaupre ’95. We will remember Ryan and all veterans and first-responders who have given their lives in the service of others and our country. Presenting the colors will be American Legion Color Guard Post 635 Normal and Post 56 from Bloomington. The ceremony will take place this Saturday, October 14th at 12:45 p.m., prior to the Homecoming Football game at Tucci Stadium and will include the National Anthem sung by Wayne Messmer ’72. Classmates and friends can view the ceremony on streaming video live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/iwu/.
There is less than 1 month until Homecoming 2017! My work schedule here in Boston won’t allow me to get back to Bloomington this year, and I’ll certainly miss the football tailgate with those crisp, fall breezes!
If you are still deciding on which events you want to attend during Homecoming, the International RSO Fair is highly recommended. It will be on Saturday (10/14) at the Hansen Student Center, Center Court from 11 am – 1 pm.
Come learn more about our multicultural registered student organizations and enjoy activities and musical performances. A light lunch will be provided, so please register either online or by phone by 10/8! You can visit the Homecoming Facebook page or the International RSO Fair Facebook event for more information.

Many of us were touched by the service of Darcy Greder during our time at IWU, and many of us remain in touch with Dean Greder over Facebook.
Personally, I’m still grateful for so many of the musical performances she brought to IWU including that Ani DiFranco show at Shirk our Freshman year. Was anyone else there for that one? And, of course, who can forget PB&J in The Dugout?
For all of you Darcy admirers out there, you’ll be happy to read that she’s won the Max L. Starkey Award for Service! Congratulations and deepest thanks to Darcy on this well-deserved recognition.
Laurie Diekhoff departed from IWU after 10 years at the Hart Career Center. She told her colleagues, “I spent 10 great years at the Career Center, enjoying my work, my colleagues, and the many relationships I have made on campus and in the community as a result of this position. Assisting students with their career development plans, helping employers fulfill their hiring needs, developing new programs, and contributing to the ongoing success of the Hart Career Center has been quite rewarding!”
