David A. Varel ’05 wrote the recently published The Lost Black Scholar: Resurrecting Allison Davis in American Social Thought (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2018).
The book is an intellectual biography of Allison Davis (1902-1983), a pioneering black scholar whose work transformed American social science even as institutional racism marginalized his contributions.

This Tuesday, April 3rd is our day of giving at Illinois Wesleyan and this year’s theme is: Think Bigger!
