Lauren Waidzunas ’05
Lauren Waidzunas recently joined Anderson, Rasor, and Partners, LLP in Chicago, Illinois. Her legal practice is concentrated on defending healthcare providers, including physicians, nurses, hospitals, and long-term care facilities and their staff members in Medical Malpractice and Long-Term Care Litigation.

Keelia Rhoads ’05
Keelia Rhoads received her Ph.D. in toxicology at Wisconsin-Madison,
and an M.S. in genetic counseling at the University of Colorado at Denver.
She is now a cancer genetic counselor in the Hereditary Cancer Clinic at Duke.
According to LinkedIn, she has worked at the cancer center since Dec. 2012, where she:
-counsels people on their personal and family history of cancer and
coordinate genetic testing for potential hereditary cancer syndromes.
-reviews medical management and screening recommendations for
individuals testing positive for a hereditary cancer syndrome and
refer patients to specialists, when appropriate.

Gena (Rawlins) Melick ’05 completes Ironman
Gena (Rawlins) Melick and alumni Brian Rawlins ’01, Van Miller ’04 (aka “IronVan”), and Matthew Melick ’03 completed the 2013 Ironman Louisville competition, held on Aug. 24 in Louisville, Ky. Competitors swam 2.4 miles, biked 112 miles and ran a marathon. See the results.
Katie Simpkins Cummins ’05 – returns to campus to recruit for interships
As the director of human resources at The Horton Group, one of the largest privately held insurance brokers in the nation, Katie Cummins joined more than 50 other employers at this year’s IWU Internship Fair. Katie, who was an intern herself less than a decade ago, brings a unique perspective. As a student, Cummins took the advice of then-internship coordinator Ann Harding (now director of alumni relations), who suggested that she apply for an HR internship at Bloomington-based Afni. Now Cummins directs HR functions for Horton’s 300 employees.
