Emeritus Associate Professor of Economics Robert (Bob) Leekley passed away on Tuesday, Jan.1. Prof. Leekley started teaching at Illinois Wesleyan in 1974, and from his first year to his 44th, his commitment to IWU and our students remained unchanged. His positive impact on generations of students and colleagues will not be forgotten. Read an obituary. A service will be held in the IWU Evelyn Chapel from 11-12 on Wednesday, January 9th.

Chad Maxwell ’02 Awarded 2013 IWU Outstanding Young Alumnus Award

Chad is the Senior Vice President of the Integrated Insights, Human Experience and Intelligence Group at Starcom, one of the world’s largest media and experience design agencies, in developing communication strategies for Fortune 500 companies. As a cultural anthropologist he has a passion for people and their relationships with technology and media. At Starcom, Chad and his team develop research and measurement strategies to understand changing consumer behavior and attitudes. Prior to Starcom, Chad led Razorfish’s Research practice, a digital design and marketing consultancy. During his tenure, Chad directed user research, where he grew research revenue over 500 percent. His findings leverage qualitative and quantitative approaches to better understand consumers and brands. Chad then works with technologists, marketers, and designers to create products and advertising that drive business strategy. Before Razorfish, Chad led Q-Squared Research, a boutique ethnographic consultancy practice.
Chad studied Spanish and Cultural Anthropology while at IWU, and earned his M.A. in Applied Anthropology from the University of Florida. He was a performer with the Illinois Wesleyan Wind Ensemble and Civic Orchestra and today continues to contribute to IWU through his involvement with the Hart Career Center and the Anthropology Department.
