Homecoming 2017 Report

Alumni came from near and far, converging on the IWU campus on a beautiful fall weekend. They attended a reception at the president’s house; visited with friends; walked around campus; went to the [winning] football game; toured classrooms, labs, the theatre, nursing school, and library; hung out in the Dugout; and drove around Bloomington. A group of AOPi alums had lunch at their former sorority house, now a refurbished duplex. Many alumni participated in official reunion year dinners and events; others just enjoyed getting together informally and catching up. Here are a few photos.

Feel free to comment and share your own photos from Homecoming 2017.

  1. Why weren’t more minority events reported and photos shared? Delta Sigma Theta, IZ Chapter Reunion; Minority Network Dinner, etc. No one from the Wesleyan administration showed up at the Delta Reunion. Only certain people were mentioned.

I am truly disappointed, but in spite of this snub (deliberate, or not), we had a great time and made history while at Wesleyan. Have you even seen our archives contributions? If not, please encourage faculty, staff, and students to visit to get the full history and account of our lives and times and how we have made our mark and have contributed to the betterment of Illinois Wesleyan and to the world-at-large.
    Thank you,

    • Hi Cheryl, Thank you so much for returning to campus for Homecoming! You will find more photos here from the IWU photographer, where you will see a preview of the photos taken all weekend, including some from the Minority Alumni 25th Celebration. I know that President and Elizabeth Jensen were excited to attend this celebration and congratulate such a milestone! Here are those photos. I will send along more as we receive them from the photographer who was present. https://www.iwu.edu/homecoming/photos.html

All my best, Adriane Powell, Director, Office of Alumni Engagement
