Made it out of the Hong Kong airport after convincing the airline attendants we had a visa waiting for us (that took an hour and a half) and left us fearful of what we’d find here. Fortunately, when we got to Myanmar, the visa was indeed waiting, and we’re in the country. It’s raining and evening, but the ride in revealed some interestingly colorful pagodas; the buddhism here is very different than the Chinese/East Asian style.
David Hoyt–you may remember that we saw a Burmese pagoda in Penang 7 years ago. That was my first incling that it might be interesting to come here.
