Mike Hennel ’16 attended the Beecken Petty O’Keefe & Company Private Equity Conference in Chicago with the Illinois Wesleyan Investment Club.

Megan Win ’16 presented “Chasing Joy” and Kathy Tun ’16 presented “A Conversation in Broken English” at the Council for IWU Women Summit, She Speaks, Petchakucha Powered Event on February 26, 2016.
The Illinois Wesleyan University Ethics Bowl team visited Washington, D.C. the day before competing in a national competition. It was the third time in five years an IWU team has competed in the national Ethics Bowl.

IWU political science major Melissa Guzman was invited by Chicago alderman Sylvia Torres to attend the annual United States Hispanic Leadership Institute Conference after an interview over the phone for Guzman’s senior seminar project, which focused on the underrepresentation of Latina women in government positions.
Guzman is extending her work for Research Honors.
Senior sociology and Hispanic studies double major Julie Lewis was awarded $1,500 for her project to install 25 new benches at bus stops on the west side of Bloomington.
Lewis will also receive assistance from the Action Research Center (ARC) to implement her idea. The benches will be installed in May 2016.
On Jan. 25, 2016 IWU Senior Mary Kate Schmidt was named to the first team of the D3soccer.com 2015 NCAA Division III All-American squads for women’s soccer.
Schmidt was chosen to the second team in the 2014 Division III All-American squads. She was also named the CCIW “Player of the Year” — a first for an IWU women’s soccer player — as well as the CCIW “Player of the Week” five times in 2015.
