Christine Peterson ’16
Christine Peterson ’16 and Allie Spontak ’17 were able to meet with Virginia Shannon Guy ’37. Virginia is an Illinois Wesleyan Alumna who recently turned 100 years old. Christine and Allie were able to speak with her about her time at Illinois Wesleyan and in Sigma Kappa. Virginia’s advice to Christine and Allie was to be true to yourself and make your family proud.
Alyssa Gibson ’16
Alyssa Gibson ’16 interned with Country Financial in the the Public Relations department. Interns were able to participate in a case study competition, where Alyssa’s team won third place out of eleven teams. This experience was her favorite part of the internship.
Kacie Graves ’16
Kacie Graves ’16 spent several months in Morocco on an SIT Study Abroad program and produced a story, “Christians in Morocco: A Crisis of Faith,” featured in U.S. News & World Report.

Lydia Hartlaub received the Mellon Award, allowing her to attend a weeklong camp called “The Dickens Universe”, where she studied Charles Dickens’ work along with other scholars and enthusiasts.

Anna Lowenthal ’16 has been studying the masculine identity of “gansgta rappers” of the 80’s and 90’s, and comparing them to the influential rappers of today, such as Kendrick Lamar, through her Mellon research scholarship.

Steph AuBuchon ’16 is researching impulse control in dogs as an Eckley Scholar. The Eckley program fellowships are awarded to students to remain on campus over the summer under the supervision of a faculty mentor.
