Erin Sweeney, president of IWU’s chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA), was honored at the St. Louis professional chapter of the AMA’s conference as the University’s Outstanding Marketing Student.
Erin Sweeney was a member of the AMA since her first year at Illinois Wesleyan.
Thomas Sobyra worked with adjunct faculty member James E. House to publish “An Experiment Utilizing Corrosion of Aluminum to Illustrate a Contracting Volume Rate Law” in The Chemical Educator.
As part of her internship for the Illinois Environmental Council, Ellen Cornelius organized a lobby day which included transportation for community members to Springfield.
Lexi Baltes was named as one of only 10 finalists for the Jostens Trophy on March 4th. The trophy honors outstanding men’s and women’s Division III basketball players who excel in the sport, in academics, and in the community.
This honor is one of many for the accomplished Lexi Baltes, who is headed to the University of Notre Dame to begin coursework for her Juris Doctor in the fall.
Illinois Wesleyan was one of the first universities in Illinois to be accepted into Google’s Glass Explorer program, and Todd Anderson assisted Karen Schmidt, university librarian, in searching out ways in which Glass could be implemented here at Illinois Wesleyan.
Todd, a business administration and music double major, has utilized Glass for research developed with Dr. Elisabeta Pana, associate professor of business administration.
Erin Sweeney was among 41 Illinois Wesleyan student-athletes who raised about $10,000 through the Bloomington Polar Plunge on Saturday, February 22nd.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge was held in Bloomington’s Miller Park Lake. Over 900 people participated overall, and more than $135,000 was raised for Special Olympics Illinois Heartland.

Declan Geraghty and Angelo Catalano were two of three MVPs named for the men’s soccer team in January. Geraghty was defensive MVP for the third year in a row, and Catalano shared the honor of offensive MVP with John Pisani, class of 2015.
Chase Salazar scored a goal worthy to be named “Goal of the Year” against Millikin.

Originally reported briefly at the end of an article in The Pantagraph, Katy Seibring has won a Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship! This program enables Katy to teach for a year at a New Jersey public school and then receive a scholarship toward her master’s degree. Congratulations, Katy!
Colleen Leonard and Thomas Sobyra, both members of the class of 2014, have been selected as Collegiate Scholars by the Illinois Heartland Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) for their achievements in collaborative research with faculty!
