Emeritus Associate Professor of Economics Robert (Bob) Leekley passed away on Tuesday, Jan.1. Prof. Leekley started teaching at Illinois Wesleyan in 1974, and from his first year to his 44th, his commitment to IWU and our students remained unchanged. Homecoming 2015 – #TGOE (Titan Green Over Everything)

Thank You From IWU

February 16th is Thank A Giver Day — a day when the Illinois Wesleyan campus community celebrates the generosity of our supporters. We celebrate Thank A Giver Day on February 16th because at this point we’re 70% of the way through the school year. Since tuition covers 70% of the total cost of an IWU education, it’s a fitting time to draw attention to the fact that outside support from alumni and friends of the University plays a key role in delivering the kind of educational experience we expect from our alma mater.

Last year, over 8,000 people made gifts to Illinois Wesleyan University and, regardless of the size, each and every one played a role in keeping Illinois Wesleyan strong. If you would like to take a moment to make your annual gift, we invite you to do so at iwu.edu/give.

Go Titans!

YOU did it!

More than 5,000 alumni showed their support by making a gift to IWU in fiscal year 2014!

And for the second year straight, Illinois Wesleyan alumni have grown our alumni giving percentage. We are now at 23%!

THANK YOU for doing your part to keep IWU strong.

Ben White ’13 – Ethics Bowl Team Member

One of the two Ethics Bowl teams at IWU was awarded second place in the regional conference, earning a bid to compete at the national competition. With the support of the Office of the Provost and Student Senate, the qualifying team will travel to Jacksonville, Fla. in February 2014 to compete at the National Ethics Bowl competition. Both IWU teams competed in the Upper Midwest Regional Ethics Bowl in Chicago on November 23.

The qualifying team includes senior Ben White, junior Anh Dao, sophomore Steph McAtee and first-year students Brigitta Jakob and Jordan Staley. Seniors Jaret Kanarek, Jake Bates, Stephanie Fenty, Kent Larson and Jamal Smith constitute the other IWU team, which was a key element to the qualifying team’s success. First-year student Duc Nguyen has also helped with the team’s preparation.

Ben sent us an update:   We tied one round, won one round, and lost one round. We tied Taylor I believe. I do not remember the names of the schools we won and lost to.
