Kristin Fields ’12, Casimir Frankiewicz ’12, and Korey Williams ’12

Kristin Fields ’12, Casimir Frankiewicz ’12, and Korey Williams ’12 spoke with First Year Humanities Fellow Rachel McCarthy ’21 about working in the marketing industry. Here is an excerpt from Rachel’s blog:

“Then came dinner at Giradano’s with three IWU alums: Kristin Fields, Kaz Frankiewicz and Korey Williams. During the evening, I got to swap stories with Kaz and Kristin about my current English professor, Professor Chapman, as they reminisced about their time at IWU. We also discussed the various aspects of working in the marketing industry, such as how to handle creatives clashing with corporates, how to take criticism in the professional world, and how marketing takes many creative, intuitive minds working at many stages to create a cohesive final project. By the end, everyone and their take home boxes were stuffed with pizza, but most of us still had enough room for a quick ice cream trip before heading on the “L” to the guest housing at UIC, where we’ll be staying for the entirety of our trip.We made sure to get some rest, though, because tomorrow is scheduled to be just as busy!

All In for Wesleyan

Tuesday, April 3rd is our day of giving at Illinois Wesleyan and this year’s theme is
Think Bigger!
Not only is today a day for giving, it’s a day to celebrate IWU and all of the things that make it special.  Last year, our class had an impressive 69 donors, and we contributed $2,976. Let’s think bigger and surpass last year’s donors and dollars contributed! Think of the impact this can make for IWU students and their families!

Samuel Mitchell ’12

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Samuel Mitchell ’12 on October 3rd, 2017.

During Sam’s time at IWU, he earned 4 varsity letters in swimming. He was an academic all-conference swimmer and was student body vice-president for one term. He spent a summer abroad at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.

Sam was an accomplished triathlete, winning or placing in his age group in numerous triathlons, including the Transamerica Chicago triathlon, and he was a rock climbing enthusiast. Sam had the courage to put himself in uncomfortable situations for personal growth. While working as a camp counselor at Deer Valley YMCA summer camp, he loved the camaraderie and closeness of the staff and campers. Sam valued healthy food and locally grown produce; he spent 6 months traveling from Illinois to Washington state working with Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF).

He looked for ways to help and connect with his community. He fought for social justice by calling and writing his local and state political officials. You may view his full obituary here.

Sam will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he has touched.
