December 1, 2015 Giving Tuesday

#GivingTuesday is a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, groups and individuals around the world are coming together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

As you consider giving this holiday season, please consider giving the gift of bright futures to current Titans. Your gift supports all the things that make an IWU experience unforgettable and unique! Gifts can be made online at www.iwu.edu/give or by calling 309-556-3091.

Thanks for keeping Illinois Wesleyan in mind this holiday season. Go Titans!

MacArthur Foundation Congratulates Juan Salgado

Congrats to Class of 1991 Illinois Wesleyan alumnus Juan Salgado, a Chicago-based community leader, who has been named one of the 24 MacArthur Fellows for 2015!

Each of the so-called “genius” grant winners receives a monetary award from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, with no strings attached, as an investment in the person’s originality, insight and potential.

Salgado gave our Commencement address in 2013 and received an honorary doctor of humane letters degree during the ceremony. He joins alumna Dawn Upshaw, Class of 1982, who was named a MacArthur Fellow in 2007.

It’s a great day to be a Titan!

As a member of the Finance staff at John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, I was very excited to learn Joan Salgado won the Genius Grant! I was very proud to say he is a fellow alum!

Brett Moore ’10 joined the University of Illinois staff as an assistant director for athletics communication in September 2015. Moore is the primary contact for the Illinois baseball team and an assistant contact for the Fighting Illini football team.

Moore spent two years at Stanford working with the baseball, football and women’s swimming and diving programs before coming to Illinois. He was a part of two bowl trips with the football team, including the 2014 Rose Bowl Game, a Super Regional appearance with the baseball team and two top-three finishes at the NCAA Championships with the women’s swimming and diving team.

Prior to Stanford, Moore spent two years on the athletics communication staff at Harvard. His time in Cambridge, Massachusetts, was highlighted by a trip to the 2012 NCAA Tournament with the men’s basketball team.

Moore graduated with a degree in business administration from Illinois Wesleyan University, where he was a member of the 2010 national championship baseball team as a senior. He earned a master’s degree in recreation, sport and tourism from the University of Illinois in 2012.

Please join me in congratulating Brett on his success! Way to go Brett!
