2016 Council for IWU Women Summit

The 2016 Council for IWU Women Summit took place February 26-27.

Kayla Kindred ’08 held a class titled “The Mutli-Passionate Woman: Navigating your Passions & Career” at IWU for the 2016 Council for IWU Women Summit. Jess Olsen ’08, Jen Hoffenkamp ’08, Abigail Sullivan ’08, Kelly Petrowski ’08, and Alissa Sherman ’08 came back to campus for the annual event.

Jess Olsen ’08 moderated a speed-networking session to connect students with council women, Jen Hoffenkamp ’08 led our scholarship committee, Alissa Sherman ’08 leads our Marketing Committee (and also attended) and Abigail Sullivan ’08 co-led the overall conference and planning.

Nicholas Timme ’08

Nicholas Timme ’08 received his Ph.D. in Physics from Indiana University – Bloomington in December. Although his degree is in physics, he studies information processing and transmission in neural systems. In January, Nicholas started a post-doctoral position in the Psychology Department at Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis.

Chris Alexander ’08

Chris Alexander (’08) joined Arthur, Chapman, Kettering, Smetak & Pikala, P.A. as an attorney.

Chris Alexander’s practice involves assisting commercial transportation clients, railroads, and trucking companies with a variety of matters.  Chris obtained his Juris Doctorate from William Mitchell College of Law.

Bridget Wall ’08

Bridget Wall ’08 received her doctorate in biological engineering from MIT this past June. Her doctoral thesis, entitled “Engineered tools for studying the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum” focused on using biological engineering techniques to learn more about the pathology of the malaria parasite. She moved back to her home state of Minnesota soon after, and spent the summer consulting for Life Science Alley. She started work this fall with Medtronic as a Scientific Communications Specialist within the Aortic/Peripheral Vascular/EndoVenous division. She is responsible for dissemination of clinical trial results for products like drug-coated angioplasty balloons, stents, and other related surgical devices.
