Shailushi Ritchie ’98

Shailushi Ritchie ’98 received her MPH from University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, and is currently working as the director of California Coalition for Reproductive Freedom (CCRF) and also on the board of directors for About-Face. Shailushi has been working for over 20 years to advocate for women’s rights, health, and social justice.

Shailushi was featured as one of 37 “Women in Power” in San Francisco magazine’s annual power issue. Read the article.

Karen LaShelle ’98, executive director of Creative Action, was named Nonprofit Executive of the Year by Mission Capital at its 2015 Party for Good gala. Creative Action‘s mission is to spark and support the academic, social, and emotional development of young people through creative programming in and out of school.

Krystina Kelley ’98 & Mary Beam ’87

Krystina Kelley ’98 and Mary Beam ’87 were recently honored among 102 St. Louis-area educators to receive an Emerson Excellence in Teaching award. Now in its 26th year, the awards pay tribute to area educators – from kindergarten teachers to college professors – for their achievements and dedication to the field of education. Each honoree received a Tiffany & Co. crystal apple, as they are honored for their vital role in shaping students’ lives.The Excellence in Teaching Awards program is sponsored annually by St. Louis-based Emerson, a diversified global manufacturer and technology leader.

Trissa A. Babrowski ’98

Trissa A. Babrowski ’98, M.D., a board-certified vascular surgeon at the University of Chicago, gave a talk on October 26, 2015 to current pre-med students at IWU about medical school interviews.

Michael Davis ’98

Michael Davis ’98 has been doing some High Altitude Ballooning with students from Chicago. They send balloons up in to near space (20 miles above the earth!), and then retrieve them when they come back. They collect data the entire time.
