Randall Ricklefs ’73 is a senior engineer at Hexagon US Federal, contributing to the Global Geodetic Observing System, a collaborative effort of the global geodesy community to the observation and monitoring of the Earth system. Randy is also a research associate at the University of Texas at Austin.
I am pretty sure I remember being in the observatory at IWU for a science course with Randy who was patiently explaining to me that the telescope was aimed at Venus, not that because of the telescope the moon was “shiny like white satin” (my very scientific observation). SO happy he is still making great contributions to the scientific community… and that I can still find Venus because of him!
