We are sad to share that Kenneth Albers ’67 passed away on November 13, 2018. Here is the link that is written about him on Facebook.

Janis taught preschool through fourth grade for 35 years.  After retiring she has started on an adventure that she had never dreamed of:  training teachers in South Sudan (Africa).  She had the opportunity to hear the story of Angelo, one of the Lost Boys of Sudan.  His story can be found in the book They Poured Fire on Us from the Sky.  The movie is about to be released.

We are saddened to share that David A. Alford passed away August 19, 2018.

Members of IWU’s class of 1968 are busy making reservations, contacting old friends and getting ready for their 50th reunion October 5-7.  The Reunion Weekend and Homecoming 2018 is A Century of Celebration.

Richard Jenkins, DeKalb native and Academy Award nominee, has announced that a special film series hosted by the Egyptian Theatre in DeKalb IL is set for September and October.  The series will feature  nine favorite movies that he has starred in.  According to Jenkins, “They all mean something special to me. I’m humbled that they’re showing them at the theater in downtown DeKalb and I hope you all come and check them out.”

The nine movies are “Dear John,” “Eat, Pray, Love,” “Flirting with Disaster,” “Bone Tomahawk,” “North Country,” “The Visitor,” “Step Brothers,” “Norman” and “The Shape of Water.”  Jenkins’ performance in “The Visitor” and “The Shape of Water” earned him Academy Award nominations.

Richard Jenkins, a graduate for the IWU School of Theater Arts, has been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the film The Shape of Water.  Jenkins has also been nominated for a Golden Globe, Screen Actor’s Guild, and Critics Choice Awards for his role as Giles.

This is Jenkins second Academy Award nomination. He was nominated for Best Actor for his starring role in The Visitor in 2007.  He also won an Emmy for Outstanding Actor in a Limited Series for Olive Kitteridge in 2015.
