George Littlefield ’63 of Lombard passed away

George L. Littlefield, Jr., 73, of Lombard. Devoted husband of Karen (nee Kreft), loving father of Diane (Cole) Littlefield Lanham and Gary (Jessica) Littlefield. Adoring grandpa to Max, Maissy, Lucy and Harper. George will be fondly remembered as a writer, musician, cinephile and man of many and varied interests, none more important than his family and friends. He was a committed member of his church and a frequent social service volunteer.

  1. I was an English major at Illinois Wesleyan and worked on the school’s literary journal, ‘the black book.’ George was one of the best of our contributors. It was amazing to me that someone so young could write so well. He was unable to attend the 100th birthday celebration of our beloved Brit Lit professor, Elizabeth Oggel, but he sent a letter full of the warmth and wit I remembered from his short stories. Elizabeth cherished it and frequently quoted from it. I knew back in college days that he was headed for a happy and interesting life. My heart goes out to his family, that have lost him too soon.
