Under the Direction of Rhys Lovell and the IWU School of Theatre Arts Faculty,  this exciting summer experience for students entering 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grade includes activities for  young performers, as well as students who also want to explore the technical and other artistic aspects of theater.

In addition to rehearsing the camp production,  students work with IWU faculty and guest artists on:

lighting design          scene design               stage combat

acting                             and more!

For students wanting to work primarily on their photoperformance skills, the individualized attention they receive from the Director and two
Assistant Directors will be highly beneficial.

Students who are excited about the behind-the-scenes activities of a production will enjoy working on important elements in theater  (lighting, scene painting, sound, etc).

IWU Youabbyvines.jpgng Artists in Theatre  strives to develop and nurture the varied interests of participants. Whether

those include designing  art for the printed program or a solo performance,  the activities of the theatre camp will engage all students.  Students  will enjoy a small class size and 6:1 student/teacher ratio.  The two weeks are quite busy with getting the production ready for the performance on the last day as well as incorporating several sessions led by guest artists.

Parents will have the opportunity to meet with the director during check-in on the first day.  Families and friends are  invited to the performance and post-performance reception on the afternoon of the last day.

Please join us for an exciting two weeks of Young Artists in Theatre at IWU!  Participants need to be able  to attend every day of the session.

  1. I had two young ladies attend Theatre Camp last summer as 4th graders and they loved it. Will there be a Theatre Camp for their age this summer? They will be in 5th grade in the Fall.
    Thank you.

    1. Currently, the Young Artists in Theatre for middle schoolers is the only camp in theatre offered at IWU. Your feedback is welcome! Thank you for sharing that demand exists for an expanded program! That is very useful and will be shared. Thank you!
