Thought for Food in the Luso-Hispanic Transatlantic
International Food Symposium | March 28 & 29, 2019
The transfer of food between the Americas and the Old World in the early modern era, and with it that of animals, humans, and technologies, is undoubtedly one of the most significant events of global history. “Thought for Food in the Luso-Hispanic Transatlantic” celebrates and examines the complex cultural, social, environmental, political, and economic interconnections that define food’s position in the Hispanic transatlantic world. Sessions include “Early Modern Contact Zones;” “From Colonialism to Independence;” “Edibles, Local and Global;” and “Sustainable Practices for the Future.”
