The men’s and women’s basketball teams will celebrate the careers of four seniors on Saturday, February 10th. The women’s game begins at 5pm and the men’s game will follow thirty minutes after its conclusion.
The men will say farewell to seniors Dan Oswald and Kevin Reed. The women will send off seniors Michelle Bilek and Melissa Gardner.
IWU SAAC is excited to welcome Steve Hunsicker to campus on Sunday, February 10. Steve will be discussing the transition from college to the ‘real world’ and how to apply the college athletic experience to the workplace. See his bio below:
Steve Hunsicker, National Field Director at Wunderman 3 (Chicago-based marketing company), will be presenting “From the Locker Room to the Board Room” on Sunday, February 10. Steve has over 25 years’ experience in advertising and marketing. Currently, he is the lead agency partner overseeing all local marketing activities for the 3rd largest restaurant chain in the world. A St. Louis native, Steve played college soccer at St. Louis University before starting his work career.
He will discuss how being a student-athlete helps prepare collegians for the workforce, and will provide tips and insights on how to leverage that status in your next chapter.
Both the indoor track & field teams and the swimming & diving teams have their Titan Pride dates on Saturday, February 2.
Track & Field will begin their meet at 11am, with recognition of the seniors taking place at 10:45am.
Swimming & Diving will start their triangular meet with North Central and Wheaton at 11am also.
Stop by both events to show your Titan Pride and then come back for men’s and women’s basketball at 5 & 7!
On Saturday, February 2nd at 5pm, the women’s basketball team will attempt to Paint the Shirk Pink in their annual game which raises money for breast cancer awareness. Money raised from raffles, t-shirt sales and a silent auction will be donated to the Community Cancer Center, which is where Coach Mia Smith received treatment for breast cancer just last year. Come on out to Shirk on Saturday and don’t forget to wear your pink!!!
Beginning Friday (Feb. 1), Illinois Wesleyan students and community members are invited to drop off any books or new or gently-used sporting goods items at the Shirk Center as part of a program sponsored by the Illinois Wesleyan Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and IWU Athletic Department.
The drive will continue throughout the month of February and the items will be sorted by SAAC members and donated to a number of local organizations.
