Morris was a 19th-century English designer, writer, philosopher and founder of the Kelmscott Press, a publisher influencing the revival of the private press.<\/p>\n<p>Morris was also an influential figure for Elbert Hubbard, a native of McLean County. Hubbard founded the Roycrofters (in East Aurora, N.Y.) inspired by Morris\u2019 Kelmscott Press.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth W<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.iwu.edu\/library\/files\/2014\/10\/IMG_20141024_073610.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-849 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.iwu.edu\/library\/files\/2014\/10\/IMG_20141024_073610-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20141024_073610\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>alsdorf and Boos have written books on Morris from different perspectives,\u201d said University Librarian Karen Schmidt. \u201cJack\u2019s focus has been on Morris from the point of a <a href=\"http:\/\/themorrisian.blogspot.com\/2013\/04\/the-morrisian-interview-series-2-john-j.html\">collector<\/a>,\u00a0while Florence has written about Morris as a poet, utopian writer, and social reformer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Walsdorf has loanded\u00a0several Morris-related items from his personal collection for exhibit at The Ames Library through Nov. 14. Walsdorf will discuss Hubbard\u2019s connection to Morris <strong>Oct. 24 at 5 p.m. at the McLean County Mu<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-854 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.iwu.edu\/library\/files\/2014\/10\/IMG_20141024_073803-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20141024_073803\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>seum of History<\/strong>. Miner said attendees are invited to bring one or two books from their collections for an \u201cAntiques Road Show\u201d type of assessment with Walsdorf narrating.<\/p>\n<p>The program is made possible by a Re-Centering the Humanities grant from the Andrew W.
