GIF IT UP (October 1-31, 2016) is an annual international competitions organized by the Digital Public Library of America to find the best gifs using public domain and openly licensed digital video, images, text, and other materials found in DPLA and other participating digital libraries.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>How it works<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>To enter GIF IT UP, you need to make a gif\u00a0with material(s) which you have found on <a href=\"http:\/\/dp.la\/\">DPLA<\/a>,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.europeana.eu\/portal\/\">Europeana<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.digitalnz.org\/\">DigitalNZ<\/a>, or\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/trove.nla.gov.au\/\">Trove<\/a>. Your source material must come from at least one of these four sources and be clearly marked as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>in the public domain;<\/li>\n<li>have a \u2018no known copyright restrictions\u2019 statement;<\/li>\n<li>or have a Creative Commons license which allows for reuse.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_23108\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" title=\"Tobias Roth\" src=\"https:\/\/dp.la\/info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/TobiasRoth-1.gif\" alt=\"Tobias Roth\" width=\"375\" height=\"281\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tobias Rothe, 2015 Grand Prize Winner (<a href=\"http:\/\/gifitup2015.tumblr.com\/post\/131439542373\/gif-it-up-2015-entry-dissension-from-tobias\">more info<\/a>)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>You can enter up to three gifs, using still images or video from the four participating digital libraries. You have from October 1 to October 31 to submit your entry.<\/p>\n<p>All entries that meet the criteria outlined on the submission guidelines page below\u00a0will be showcased on the competition\u2019s Tumblr and generally adored by the Internet.
