Here&#8217;s the entry from current <em>News <\/em>editor Trevor Meek:<\/p>\n<p><strong>December 24, 1964<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Author <a href=\"https:\/\/thelocalnews.news\/tag\/john-updike\/\">John Updike<\/a> returns to Ipswich after a two-month trip to the Soviet Union, which was arranged through the State Department\u2019s cultural exchange program.<\/p>\n<p>He was joined on the trip by author <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_Cheever\">John Cheever<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have \u2018boy meets girl\u2019 novels.
