{"id":4593,"date":"2019-01-30T16:23:32","date_gmt":"2019-01-30T22:23:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.iwu.edu\/johnupdikesociety\/?p=4593"},"modified":"2019-01-30T16:39:28","modified_gmt":"2019-01-30T22:39:28","slug":"new-updike-publication-in-portuguese","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.iwu.edu\/johnupdikesociety\/2019\/01\/30\/new-updike-publication-in-portuguese\/","title":{"rendered":"New Updike publication in Portuguese"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Member Carla Ferreira, who is an associate professor in the Literature and Language Department at Federal University of Sao Carlos, Brazil, reports that her dissertation has been published in book form. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The title is <em>North and South Readings: Perception of Oneself and the Other in Updike&#8217;s Fiction.<\/em> &#8220;The book is written in Portuguese,&#8221; Ferreira says, &#8220;and it is about <em>The Coup <\/em>and <em>Brazil.<\/em>&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The next book I am writing in English so JUS members can read it,&#8221; Ferreira writes. She is finishing up her postdoctoral research on Updike&#8217;s <em>New Yorker<\/em> essays at the University of South Carolina, under the direction of Donald J.
