Its starting point is David Foster Wallace&#8217;s labeling\u00a0of Updike, Mailer and Roth as the &#8220;Great Male Narcissists,&#8221; and his claim\u00a0that these novelists are much less appreciated by readers of later generations\u00a0(especially by younger women readers). It then goes on to consider how contemporary\u00a0male novelists are conscious of this legacy and how they seek to appeal to\u00a0female readers by rejecting the attitudes and sexual &#8220;politics&#8221; of the &#8220;GMN.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Here is the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nybooks.com\/articles\/archives\/2012\/jul\/12\/american-male-novelists-new-deal\/\">link to the first page of the article<\/a>.
