An Overdue Update

Much has happened since our last post. While the IWU community was busy cramming a semester of work into a single month, we at the Peace Garden were busy trying to prepare beds for the veggies that were started just after spring break in the CNS greenhouse. With the help of our committed volunteers, including Professor Gearhart’s entire May Term class, we were able to accomplish a lot.

As of today we have prepared nearly seven rows, six of which are fully planted. Those plants include: over seventeen different variety of tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, basil, potatoes, carrots, beets, thyme, cucumbers, pumpkins, butternut/summer squash, peas, gourds, nasturtiums, sage, tomatillos, and onions.

We have many plans for the coming summer months. This week we will be constructing a gutter system to collect rainwater from our shed. Along with this we will be digging and planting our final row. This row will contain more tomatoes, peppers, and something different, lettuce.

  1. This resolution sholud be passed and a new agreement negotiated with the WAC. As the decision on the new facilty location shows the stated intentions of the WAC don’t seem to match up with what their actions are. The WAC sholud be thrilled to put their promises into a legal agreement that binds them to do exactly what they say they will. Those backing the WAC on the City Council sholud be thrilled to have this chance to prove that that suport is deserved and the the promises made aren’t just for show.

  2. What you published was very reasonable. However, consider this, what if you wrote a catchier post title? I mean, I don’t want to tell you how to run your blog, however suppose you added a title to maybe grab a person’s attention? I mean An Overdue Update | IWU Peace Garden is a little vanilla. You might peek at Yahoo’s front page and see how they create post titles to get viewers interested. You might add a related video or a pic or two to grab readers interested about everything’ve got to say. Just my opinion, it might make your posts a little livelier.
