For my Fall 2019 History project, I have chosen to present my Final essay for The Bloody History of afternoon tea. This essay was a three month long research project of my choice. I chose the opium war as it is an important time in global, economic, European and Asian history. After starting some basic research in primary documents and discussing my thoughts on a specific thesis with my professor, I decided to focus on the human cost of the Battle of Chinkiang. The essay and my presentation were very impactful in understanding the cost and devastation of war. I really enjoyed this project because it gave me an opportunity to learn how to write a research essay and gave me deeper insight to an impactful moment in history.
