I found the interview with Austin Smith interview to be incredibly interesting and Insightful. I learned a great deal about poetry, specifically the idea of drafting an original draft. Smith commenting on how he wrote a poem on the train ride to IWU about a tree, it gave me an in-depth look at what goes on in his mind. It seemed as if Austin Smith had a keen appreciation of nature that stems from his background. The fact that almost all of the poems in the Almanac were revised a number of times, it helped show me that even experts’ work needs numerous revisions. I learned that I should not be afraid to revise my work a number of times, something I have had trouble with in the past. In the future, I will continue to keep Smith’s words in mind when I am working on a paper or a poem.
