Type vs Form

All this talk about types of poetry has got me thinking about the different forms of poetry, so I found a site that has a pretty decent list, and realized that some forms could also be types. For example, the definition of “Light Verse” poetry reminds me of the Stand Up poetry that Collins writes, as they are both defined as being humorous and nonsensical. I just found it interesting how sometimes types and forms are basically the same thing for some poems, but at other times, like with Haiku’s, are completely separate categories. I was wondering what everybody else thinks about the difference between types and forms of poetry? And whether or not certain authors favor certain forms like they favor certain types of poetry?
