Mildred Hunt is IWU’s first female to become a full professor in a STEM field. She also served as Registrar for the University. She was responsible, with the help of a faculty committee, for creating a revised schedule of classes in one night on the day after the Hedding Hall fire (Saturday, January 9, 1943) so that classes could resume on Monday.
