BOT resolves it is "inexpedient" to admit Ladies

In 1851, the Board of Trustees resolves it is “inexpedient” to admit Ladies

This is an undated entry but it was recorded after November 5, 1851 meeting. The text reads, “Board met pursuant to their last adjournment. On motion of Dr. Thomas it was resolved (with and underline) that it is inexpedient to introduce Ladies into the University as students.”
