Jake Muehlbaur and DesaRae Myers: Fall Project ’04

heartland head start

Jake Muehlbaur and DesaRae Myers’ goal for the fall semester of ’04 was to analyze the data for all four-year-old students at Heartland Head Start.  They completed a significant amount of analysis by locating and analyzing the relevant data, and also determining the best way to organize the data. Their primary goal was to set up a template to be used by future volunteers. Muehlbaur and Myers tracked the relevant data and proceeded to make a presentation that demonstrated the proficiency levels of the children. While doing so, they also discovered that there was a discrepancy in proficiency levels between students of different ethnic backgrounds. The students believe that efforts should be made to focus on getting the different ethnic groups to be on par with the rest. Future volunteers will now be able to build upon their work in order to continue assisting Heartland Head Start in their endeavors.
