CONSIDERING VOLUNTEERING WITH THE CITIZENSHIP TEAM AT THE IMMIGRATION PROJECT!

The Immigration Project is a not-for-profit legal immigration services agency which re-located in October 2008 from East St. Louis and Western Avenue Community Center to new offices in Bloomington Illinois.
We offer immigration information and application services to immigrants, their families, educational/social service/ and medical agencies who serve the same clientele.  We serve the 86 Illinois counties south of Interstate 80.
An exciting portion of our services is to help Legal Permanent Residents (those who have ‘green cards’) take the next step to U.S. Citizenship.  We are able to offer our services for only a $10 postage fee to most clients, based on grants from the State of Illinois.  Because those grants are ever-insecure and ever-decreasing, we count on volunteer help to serve as many people as we do.  We average over 100 citizenship applications a year, but wish to increase that, as the step of becoming a citizen helps the immigrant to fully integrate into American life.
We are opening up the opportunity to volunteer on “The Citizenship Team”.  It is a commitment of 8 hours per month, preferably on Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays, between 8 am and 5 pm.  We need a team of about eight people.  Fluency in Spanish or French is a plus but not a must!
This is a fantastic opportunity to help Legal Permanent Residents on the road to citizenship!
