Dave McGrath: CPP Program ’13

At State Farm: I worked on a number of different projects for the Self-Audit Team within the Life/Health department in Centralized Operations. My projects included defining metrics and the reporting procedure, creating and organizing SharePoint pages for the team site, reviewing the team’s audit process, and the conduction of a system access audit. These projects helped me gain an understanding of the amazing detailed quality that goes into State Farm’s operation.  davidmcgrath

At Mid Central Community Action: My projects included a few different surveys. The Community Impact Measurement captured data focusing on the condition of West Bloomington at the block level, parcel level, and residential experience. The Community Needs Assessment identified strengths and concerns of the community. This data was collected, entered, and analyzed in order for Mid Central to decide where they want their efforts to be focused.

Grant summary: My grant requested funds in order to create a board game focusing on financial literacy and highlighting local busineeses. This game would be developeded by children of the families at MCCA and local elementary schools with the assistance of IWU’s professional business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi. The game would provide the children with an opportunity to begin their financial eduaction at a young age. The game would be very special to Bloomington as it focused on locally based and owned businesses. This creates an opportunity for MCCA to have an impact on the community’s youth in the hopes of strengthening their financial responsibility and opportunities for the future.
