{"id":103,"date":"2013-08-09T09:04:14","date_gmt":"2013-08-09T14:04:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.iwu.edu\/2013classnews\/?p=103"},"modified":"2014-07-09T10:23:09","modified_gmt":"2014-07-09T15:23:09","slug":"sylvia-rusin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.iwu.edu\/2013classnews\/2013\/08\/09\/sylvia-rusin\/","title":{"rendered":"Sylvia Rusin &#8217;13"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>I presented on July 8th\u00a0at Sigma Delta Pi&#8217;s inaugural &#8220;Best Practices&#8221; session for<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">\u00a0the 95th Annual National\u00a0American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP) held in San Antonio, Texas from\u00a0July 8-11 2013.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">There were 4 presenters in total, and all of us presented on either one or multiple successful events we organized throughout the school year through Sigma Delta Pi. My presentation focused on the November 8, 2012 &#8220;Understanding the Daily life of Undocumented Youth&#8221; event which hosted Dr. Roberto Gonzales from the University of Chicago (now at Harvard). \u00a0I talked about how I went about organizing the event, who I collaborated with, how I successfully integrated community members as well as students in the event, and what made the event a success overall.
