Jason Han (’03)

Jason Han was elected in April to serve on the Village of Northbrook, Ill., Board.
An English major at Illinois Wesleyan, Jason revieved his law degree from the University of Illinois. He opened his own law practice in Chicago in 2014. Asked by the Daily North Shore why he was pursuing office, Jason said, “I am running because this community has not reached its potential. It could be so much better. We need to reach out to newcomers such as the Asian-American community. Northbrook is about 20 percent Asian-American yet has never had an Asian trustee on the Village Board. We need to reach out to a younger generation and encourage them to choose Northbrook.’

Cara Spitzner (’03)

Cara Spitzner, a fourth grade teacher at Ogden Avenue School in La Grange, Ill., is a 2017 Golden Apple Awards for Excellence in Teaching and Leadership finalist.
This is Cara’s fourteenth year at Ogden, where she has taught both third and fourth grades and is also involved in the Curriculum Advisory Council and the Committee for Equity and Minority Achievement. An education major at IWU who also holds a master’s degree from Northern Illinois University, Cara resides in Oak Park and volunteers on a Refugee Welcome Team through her synagogue.
Congratulations on your amazing achievement!

Jason Han ’03

Jason Han is running for Trustee for the Village of Northbrook. Northbrook is a northern Chicago suburb with Glenview at its south border and Deerfield to the north. The election is April 4, but early elections are from March 20 to April 1.

Good luck, Jason! We’re rooting for you!

Thank a Giver Day

Today, students, faculty, and staff across campus are celebrating donors and the impact they have on campus. Thank A Giver Day marks the symbolic point during the year — about 70% of the way though — when tuition dollars run out and the University relies on the generosity of donors, the endowment, and external grants for the remainder of the year. Share how your IWU experience was impacted by donors using #IWUThanks.

Donor support allows IWU students to continue to have experiences that make being a Titan unique and transformative. To be among those celebrated today, make a gift at www.iwu.edu/give. If you have already made a gift this year, thank you!
