Laura (Harding) Koppenhoefer ’83

We are sorry to announce that Laura Koppenhoefer ’83 passed away on Monday, November 30, 2015 from her battle with cancer dating back to 2011. Laura received her master’s degree from Oregon Health and Science University, and then taught nursing at IWU afterwards. Later, she attended Wartburg Seminary where she earned her Master of Divinity and served as the Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church from 2003 to 2012.

Mary Beam ’87

Mary Beam ’87 and Krystina Kelley ’98  were honored among 102 St. Louis-area educators to receive an Emerson Excellence in Teaching award. Now in its 26th year, the awards pay tribute to area educators – from kindergarten teachers to college professors – for their achievements and dedication to the field of education. Each honoree received a Tiffany & Co. crystal apple, as they are honored for their vital role in shaping students’ lives.The Excellence in Teaching Awards program is sponsored annually by St. Louis-based Emerson, a diversified global manufacturer and technology leader.

Craig Altman ’86

Craig Altman ’86 recently celebrated his 10 year anniversary as President and Founder of TRADITION SOFTWARE, INC., a national construction lien software and services company. Members of his Board of Trustees include his IWU Theta Chi Fraternity roommates Paul Verkoulen ’86 and Ted McKenna ’84.

Craig lives in Roseville, CA, just north of Sacramento with his high school age children,
Randall Altman and Lauren Altman.

Jacklynn Lesniak ’86

Jacklynn Lesniak, MS, BSN, RN is the Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) at Midwestern Regional Medical Center (Midwestern) in Zion, IL. In her role at CTCA®, Jacklynn ensures the care delivery model, clinical environment of care and related technology meets the needs of CTCA patients and caregivers. She also provides leadership for nursing and other designated patient care areas.
Recently, Jacklynn has been a lead in the design of the hospital’s new, six-story inpatient tower. The expansion is inspired by the patients it will benefit. The new tower offers 72 innovative, single-occupancy inpatient oncology rooms and common space designed to bring comfort and convenience to patients. Jacklynn has been influential in the design of the tower and leading the nursing team as they prepare for their grand opening next month.

Scott Huch ’86

At the annual meeting of the Alumni Association at Homecoming 2015,
Scott Huch ’86 was elected president-elect of the Alumni Association Board of Directors.

He will serve a two-year term in this role before becoming President of the Alumni Association for another two-year term in October 2017.  Huch has served on the Alumni Association Board of Directors since 2000 and is President of IWU’s Washington, D.C. Alumni Chapter.
