Linda Bollivar ’88

Linda Bollivar ’88 was recently awarded the Communication Innovator Award, one of three Crystal Awards from the Association for Women in Communications – Bloomington/Normal. The Communication Innovator Award recognizes someone who has achieved excellence in communicating a project, mission, or event that benefits the Bloomington-Normal community.

Lou Bury ’80

Lou Bury ’80 is the associate pastor of Downers Grove Community Church and they are using music in its “Building Bridges Series” to link its congregation with worshipers from different ethnic backgrounds. Here is the article where he describes the mission of the “Building Bridges Series” and what other ethnic backgrounds have been incorporated into the congregation. 

Steven Riesenberg ’87

Captain Steven Riesenberg (’87) retired from the 
Illinois State Police following a 31 year career in law enforcement.  He  
served in patrol, investigative, and covert operations assignments while  
earning three department service ribbons.  A bagpiper with the State Police  
Pipes and Drums, he performed solo before three Illinois Governors  
(Thompson, Quinn, Rauner) and twice on the floor of the Illinois House of  
Representatives.  In 2012 he performed with the IWU Wind Ensemble at the  
Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts in Michael Schelle’s “The End of  
the World.”  Captain Riesenberg concluded his career as the Commanding  
Officer of District 6 State Police in Pontiac and District 8 State Police  
in Peoria.  His daughter, Kelsey Riesenberg (National Honor Society,  
Bloomington HS) will attend IWU this fall as part of the Class of 2023.  He  
resides in Bloomington with his wife, Jill.
