“It’s rare when you get to do what you love for a living,” says Bobby Poynton ’80, about singing with the international recording group, The Lettermen.  Recently, Bobby was interviewed in the  News Gazette in Champaign Illinois about his career and new solo CD entitled “The Long Road Home”.

Eric Gardner ’89

Eric Gardner ’89, Saginaw Valley State University professor, has written a new book that has been recently released by one of the world’s leading university presses, and it sheds new light on American literary history, particularly as it pertains to printed communication among African-Americans during and immediately following the Civil War.

My book … may be of special interest because a bit of it considers AME (African Methodist Episcopal Church) folks in Bloomington and that consideration was built in part from conversations with IWU Professor Pam Muirhead ’68 and her husband Jack Muirhead ’62.

Patrick Palmer ’87

On his return to campus, Patrick Palmer ’87 spoke to current IWU students about how he translated his IWU history degree into a successful 25 year career in advertising and marketing. Palmer talked about his challenges in the past, and how he changed his weaknesses into strengths to stand out to employers.
