Palmer Communications Contest<\/em> in Illinois for the category of\u00a0\u201cBooks and Creative Writing.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This year she\u00a0also earned an additional four 1st place and two 2nd place awards in other categories as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">1st Place: Books and Creative Writing\u00a0 &#8211; Short Stories &#8211; Single story<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">1st Place: Writing &#8211; Columns &#8211; General<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">1st Place: Writing\u00a0 &#8211; Personality profile &#8211; 500 words or fewer<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">1st Place: Photography and Graphics &#8211; Single photograph<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">2nd Place: Writing &#8211; Columns &#8211; General<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">2nd Place: PR Materials\u00a0 &#8211; Brochures &#8211; Nonprofit, government, or educational<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">The Illinois Woman\u2019s Press Association (<a href=\"http:\/\/iwpa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"s2\">iwpa.org<\/span><\/a>) celebrates its 130th anniversary this May. It was founded in 1885 by 47 determined women. IWPA is an organization of professionals whose objective is to maintain and improve standards of members in mass communications in Illinois. These\u00a0founding members filled a need for communications and support between women writers. Today, we embrace members of all genders and generations.
