Dr. Steve Doran ’79, an oral surgeon in Bloomington, Illinois, will be presented the 2018 Distinguished Alumni Award at Homecoming on October 5th at the Alumni Awards Ceremony at 6 p.m. in the Memorial Center\u2019s, Young Main Lounge.\u00a0 This award is presented to an alumnus or alumna who has made a distinguished contribution to society, has achieved distinction in his or her profession, or has demonstrated civic leadership.<\/p>\n

In 2011, the Illinois State Dental Society (ISDS) presented Doran with the President\u2019s Award for outstanding contributions to the dental profession. Since then, he has made 12 oral surgery mission trips to Haiti and Honduras, in addition to his participation in the Gary S. Johnson \u201971 free extraction clinic and four ISDS Mission of Mercy clinics. He presently serves on the boards of the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal and John Scott Health Services.<\/p>\n
